Harry Kane discusses the upcoming World Cup in Qatar and says the England squad want to take the next step after penalty shootout heartache at Euro 2020.

That burn in desire you've got for team Trophies to go with the individual stuff Is that burning brighter and brighter as The seasons go by yeah absolutely I've Been close on on many occasions now for For tottler men with England and I think The closer you get it just gives you That more firing ability to be back and And Achieve what you almost just just Missed out on you know the Euros For England was a pennant shootout and You know one or two kicks away from Winning one of the biggest trophies ever And whenever you you fail in in Something that you're that you want to Do it always just leaves that that Thought in your head of could I have Done more or I wish I'd done this or done that but For sure if we win the World Cup I'm not Going to be sad at all the team had Built up a lot of momentum over two Major tournaments It just feels like that's halted a Little bit in the last six seven months Do you feel like you can gather it back Quickly with with just a fast start in That first game the first game is really Important for sure but I think also of Course it hasn't been the the greatest Period in a long time for England since Probably Tara took charge we haven't had A spell like we've had but in a way Before major tournament that can be a

Really good thing because it allows you Not to be carried away not to get Carried away even with the media with The Press of course I feel like if we Want every game leading up to this Tournament it would have been we're Guaranteed to win it we're going to win It and and that can come with a Different pressure we feel like being Judged from major tournaments is the Main thing and the last two that we've Had have been good and we have a good Confidence within ourselves that we can Go and yeah have a great tournament in Qatar how do you feel physically going Into the tournament because it's not at The end of a long season like it would Normally be but you have been playing Every game it has been an intense period For sure I'd rather We got into it playing loads of games Where you feel much fit sometimes after The after the season in the summer you Know you have a break and then you have To kind of gear back up to play and you Haven't played a lot of games in that do You think rolling into it much I think Rolling into it can help yeah I think as Long as you manage it well and you Recover well I spoke after the game Recovery is the most important thing for I think any player in this period of Course you can try and train as much as You can but the bottom line is you need

To be ready to have all your energy Ready for the game and that's what I'm Trying to do what are the mental Challenges of a major tour yeah I think The major tournament probably test you The most in terms of definitely the high Pressure playing for England is always High pressure but in a major tournament There's always an added incentive and of Course there's probably going to be a Penalty shootout you know you look at The record of Major tournaments and how far teams I Fit to the final normally have to win at Least one penny throughout so they're Always high pressure moments the Mentality of being away from home being In uh camp for five six weeks this one's Fairly quick because obviously it's During the season normally away four Five weeks before the tournament and Then you're away four or five weeks in The tournament so it's a long period of Time where you're just you know you're Out your comfort zone but yeah I guess That's what separates the top Nations And the winning nations from the others Is who can do that the best will you go To the World Cup thinking Win it or or is it more about the Process do you not is it better not to Think about that end goal no I think we Have to believe we can win it I think I Look back at England

10 15 years ago it was almost we were Scared to say we wanted to win it and I Think One of the big shifts that we've made Over the last four or five years with Gareth is is not being afraid to say That look we're going to this tournament To win it because we believe we can it Would be wrong to to think otherwise What's the point of going to a World Cup And not believing that you can you can Bring the trophy home it's going to be Tough and we're gonna have to work Extremely hard we're gonna have to have A little bit of luck we're gonna have to Have a lot of things go our way to Achieve that but yeah I think it's Important not to be afraid to say that That's what we're going there to do
